January 2026 System Maintenance and What It Means for You
We want to make you aware of important system maintenance that will temporarily affect several student services. Beginning Wednesday, January 14, at 2 p.m., one of our core university systems will be offline for scheduled updates and improvements. We expect the system to be unavailable through January 21.
During this time, several processes you use in Self-Service at the start of the semester, including registration, financial aid updates, billing, and payment processing, will be temporarily unavailable. We understand the timing may be challenging, and we appreciate your patience as we complete these necessary upgrades.
Key Impacts for Students:
Registration
Beginning Wednesday, January 14, at 2 p.m., you will no longer be able to make any registration changes — including adding or dropping courses — for spring 2026. Once the system is restored, you will be able to adjust schedules in Self-Service with limited options:
- You can add Spring Module II courses.
- You can drop any Spring 2026 course (16-week, Module I, or Module II).
- You will NOT be able to add Spring 16-week or Module I courses. If you need to add a 16-week or Module I course after January 14, please contact your advisor directly.
Financial Aid
Your financial aid for the spring semester will be based on your course schedule as of 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14. Once the system is restored, your financial aid may be adjusted if changes are made to your schedule.
Student Accounts
- The spring semester tuition due date has been moved from January 15 to January 21.
- If you are enrolled in a payment plan, the first installment is due January 21.
- During the outage, you will not be able to:
- Make payments (online or in person).
- Enroll in a payment plan.
- Log in to the billing/payment center.

Key Impacts for Faculty:
Since Self-Service and Colleague will be unavailable during the first week of classes, student participation must be closely monitored through alternate methods:- Track class attendance in individual records.
- Review engagement in Brightspace to confirm active participation.
- Confirm intent to attend via AU email or direct communication.
