Spartan Connections
Starting college is an exciting time, but it can also come with questions and challenges. That’s why Aurora University created Spartan Connections, a mentoring program designed to ensure every first-year student feels supported, connected, and confident from day one.
What is Spartan Connections?
Spartan Connections pairs first-year students with a caring faculty or staff mentor who is there to guide them through their transition into college life. Mentors are trusted supporters who are ready to answer questions, share advice, and help you feel at home at AU. By participating in Spartan Connections, you will:
- Build a strong sense of belonging on campus.
- Have someone to turn to for advice and support.
- Get connected with campus resources and opportunities.
- Feel more confident navigating college life.
What can I expect as a Spartan Connections mentee?
- Two in-person meetings each semester with your mentor (often as a small group with other students).
- Monthly check-in emails with helpful tips, encouragement, and info on events and resources.
- A friendly face on campus who truly cares about your success.
Why does Spartan Connections matter?
Studies show that students with a mentor are more likely to stay engaged, persist through challenges, and succeed academically. At AU, we want every student to thrive — and Spartan Connections is a key part of that mission.
Spartan Connections is more than a program, it's a promise. As a student at AU, you will never have to navigate college alone. From your first semester through graduation, we're committed to building a campus community where every student belongs.
