Mumps Outbreak 2006

What should I watch for ?

Initially the symptoms of mumps can be very similar to symptoms for cold and flu. However there are a few key signs that differentiate mumps from cold/flu symptoms

Specific symptoms

  • Swollen glands close to the jaw
  • Neck pain
  • Pain to cheeks and salivary glands
  • Pain with chewing
  • Pain in testicle (males), or pelvic region/breast (females)

General Symptoms

  • Fever
  • Headaches
  • Muscle aches
  • Tiredness
  • Loss of appetite

If you exhibit any of these symptoms (especially the specific symptoms), you should contact the Wellness Center and/or your family physician for further evaluation.
