Q: What should I do my first year of college if I am undecided on a major?
A: Take classes that sound interesting! Get to know the campus, students and faculty while you complete your general education courses. Take advantage of joining university athletic, social, and academic groups. Make new friends while you learn more about the various majors that AU has to offer.

Q: Can I still finish my degree in four years if I start as an undecided major in Liberal Arts?
A: Yes! At AU, the undecided major is one of the most popular majors among first-year students as they take this opportunity to explore the wide gamut of options available to them in the Liberal Arts.

In fact, as many at 75% of all college students change their major while in college. In many cases, you can select general education courses and elective credits to find your niche and graduate in four years.

Q: Are there things an undecided major in Liberal Arts will learn that are important to my future employer?

Q: How will Aurora University help me to decide?
A: The AU Crouse Center for Student Success. The Crouse Center is home to Academic Advising, Career Services, Service Learning, and First-Year Programs. The professional staff of the Crouse Center, in addition to Liberal Arts faculty, is available to help you during the exciting process of deciding on a major and plan of study while at AU. In addition, the first year program at AU is designed to help you through the deciding process. One of the first-year seminars is taught by the Director of Career Services and is specifically designed to assist undecided students in their transition to college.

Q: Why attend Aurora University if I haven’t selected a major?
A: As an undecided student, you will be able to talk with a variety of AU faculty to see which field of study is best suited to you. AU’s student/faculty ratio of 15:1 means that you will have the unique opportunity to get to know your professors. You can ask questions – even those unrelated to a specific class.
