Aurora University offers accident and sickness health insurance to its currently enrolled students. Information regarding this coverage can be found at www.gallagherkoster.com/aurora, which provides a link to the plan brochure and summary of benefits.  It can also be used to print an identification card, review Frequently Asked Questions and access preferred provider network information.

Accident/Sickness Insurance

Full-time undergraduate students and resident students

All full-time undergraduate* students and all resident students are required to be covered by a health insurance plan. Aurora University offers a plan that provides benefits for hospitalization as well as out-patient treatment. The charges and coverage dates are as follows:

  • Fall 2011:  $244; coverage period (8/01/2011 - 1/08/2012)
  • Spring/Summer 2012:  $338; coverage period (1/09/2012 - 7/31/2012).

All full-time undergraduate* and resident students are automatically charged for this coverage.

If a student is covered under a comparable health insurance plan, he/she may waive the insurance charge by providing proof of current health insurance through an online waiver form.  The online waiver form must be submitted by the published deadlines (see below). To submit an online waiver, please follow these simple steps:

  1. Log onto:  www.gallagherkoster.com/aurora
  2. Click on ‘Student Waive/Enroll Forms'
  3. Create a user account or log in (if a returning user)
  4. Select the red "Waive" button

Please be sure to have your current health insurance ID card ready, as you will need this information in order to complete the waiver form.  Immediately upon submitting your online waiver form you will receive a confirmation number.  Please retain this confirmation number for your records.

*Please note that if you were admitted as an adult completion full-time undergraduate, you will not be automatically enrolled in the student insurance but may voluntarily enroll if you wish.

Insurance Waiver Deadlines

**Waivers & Proof of Insurance are required each academic year.**

  • Fall 2011 and Spring/Summer 2012: Friday, September 2, 2011 (satisfies waiver process for 2011-2012 academic year)
  • Spring/Summer 2012 ONLY: Friday, January 13, 2012

Part-time, non-resident undergraduate students and all non-resident graduate students

Part-time, non-resident undergraduate students and all non-resident graduate students, who are taking six or more credit hours, may elect to participate in the accident/sickness insurance plan ($244 for the fall coverage period and $338 for the spring/summer coverage period) on a voluntary basis.  To submit an online enrollment, please follow these simple steps:

  1. Log onto:  www.gallagherkoster.com/aurora
  2. Click on ‘Student Waive/Enroll Forms'
  3. Create a user account or log in (if a returning user)
  4. Select the green "Enroll" button

Excess Athletic Accident Insurance

Intercollegiate athletic participation insurance is excess coverage, with a $250 "disappearing" deductible, and provides coverage for intercollegiate participation accidents after all other primary and secondary (family, employer, etc.) insurance coverage(s) have been considered and paid. Insurance claims must be filed with the Athletics Department, Alumni Hall, attention Terry Smith.
