Mission Statement
The mission of the Athletic Training education program at Aurora University is to
educate students with the knowledge base of the BOC Athletic Training
Educational Competencies expected of an entry-level athletic trainer and
enable students to become successful as health professionals in the field
of athletic training.
The Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training is based on the integration
of didactic and clinical based education. Students will be exposed
to a thorough education curriculum while participating in a comprehensive
on and off-campus clinical education program.
Further, the Bachelor of Science Degree in Athletic Training strives
to:
- Educate students to be morally, ethically, and professionally responsible.
- Prepare students in the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor development
of the following domains:
- Risk Management and Injury Prevention
- Pathology of Injury and Illness
- Orthopaedic Clinical Evaluation and Diagnosis
- Medical Conditions and Disabilities
- Acute Care of Injuries and Illnesses
- Therapeutic Modalities
- Conditioning and Rehabilitative Exercises
- Pharmacology
- Psychosocial Intervention and Referral
- Nutritional Aspects of Injuries and Illnesses
- Healthcare Administration
- Professional Development and Responsibility
