Spartan Selected Preseason All-American

AURORA, Ill. July 31, 2009 - Aurora University Spartan football senior defensive lineman Pat Funk was selected to the 2009 D3football.com preseason Second-Team All-America Team.

A Second-Team defense selection by D3football.com, Funk was named to the D3football.com NCAA Division III All-Region Football Team, following his performance in the 2008 season. A Third-Team All-Region defensive selection as a junior, Funk (Morris, IL/Morris H.S.), had a stellar season which included being named Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) Second-Team All-Conference and D3Football.com Third-Team All-North Region.

For the year, Funk had 49 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, nine quarterback sacks, one interception, three pass-break-ups and two forced fumbles. On his career, he has 111 tackles, 33-1/2 tackles for loss, 14 quarterback sacks, five forced fumbles, three pass breakups, one interception and one fumble recoveries.

AU opens the 2009 campaign on Saturday, September 5, 2009, when they host Lake Forest College at 1:00 p.m. on Vago Field.
