Spartan Named Northern Athletics Conference Baseball Student-Athlete of the Week

AURORA, Ill. March 24, 2009 - The Aurora University Spartan baseball team had a player named the Northern Athletics Conference Baseball, Pitching Student-Athlete of the Week for the third consecutive week.

Senior pitcher Chris Koudelka (Woodridge, IL/Downers Grove North H.S.) was named the NAC Pitcher of the Week.

On the week in which the Spartans went 1-2, Koudelka threw the complete game shutout as AU beat Monmouth College 5-0. Koudelka scattered nine hits while striking out seven in AU's only win of the three-game weekend.

On the season, Koudelka is 2-0 with a 1.29 earned run average in 21 innings pitched, he has struck out 20 and allowed just three runs.

The Spartan baseball team (9-4 overall) open the Northern Athletics Conference portion of the 2009 schedule when they travel to Rockford College on Saturday, March 28, 2009, at Roadrunner Park in Rockford at noon.
