Spartans Named to the 2009 NCAA National Student-Athlete Development Conference
AURORA, Ill. March 19, 2009 - Aurora University Student-Athletes Steve Brauer and Brandon Scott are among 187 NCAA Division III representatives selected to attend the 2009 NCAA National Student-Athlete Development Conference, to be held May 24-27 at the Walt Disney World Coronado Spring Resort in Orlando, Fla.
The pair was among more than 2,000 applicants for the conference, which will include approximately 600 student-athletes from the NCAA's three divisions. Held annually, the Student-Athlete Development Conference provides NCAA student-athletes with a forum to openly discuss issues that may affect them on their campuses and in their communities, while also providing them with the opportunity to enhance their leadership, communication, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
The conference also promotes better communication among student-athletes, coaches, administrators, faculty and communities. The four-day conference consists of daily team sessions, exercises, speakers and activities to help the student-athletes develop as individuals and as contributing members to society.
Brauer, a junior marketing major from Streamwood, IL, is the starting second baseman on Aurora University’s baseball team. Scott, a junior marketing major, from Romeoville, IL, was a key resevere on AU’s men’s basketball team that won the Northern Athletics Conference and advanced to the NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Championships for the third consecutive season.
Brauer and Scott are among just four NAC student-athletes selected to attend this year's conference.
