Spartan Named Northern Athletics Conference Men’s Indoor Track and Field Student-Athlete of the Week

AURORA, Ill. February 10, 2009 - Aurora University men’s track and field pentathlete, sophomore Evan Hackbarth (Dixon, IL/Dixon H.S.), was named Northern Athletics Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending February 8, 2009.

Competing in the indoor portion of the Spartan schedule, Hackbarth was the lone Spartan competitor at the Illinois Wesleyan University Pentathlon. He finished second in the pentathlon with a school record point tally of 3,426. The score qualifies him for the NCAA Division III National Indoor Track & Field Championships in the pentathlon.

The pentathlon results for Evan Hackbarth were as follows, 1,000 meter run - he finished fourth with a school record time of 2:58.86; the 55 meter hurdles - he won with a time of 7.84; the high jump - he finished second with a jump of 1.86m (6' 1.25"); the long jump - he finished second with a school record jump of 6.47m (21' 2.75"); and the shot put - he finished third with a throw of 10.35m.

Next action for the Spartan men's indoor track and field team comes on Saturday, February 14, 2009, when they travel to the Chicagoland Indoor Championships at the University of Chicago. Meet time is set for 11:00 a.m. in Chicago, IL.
