Trudo enters Spartan 1,000 Point Club

AURORA, Ill. January 5, 2009 - Aurora University Spartan men’s basketball had its 27th player enter the AU 1,000 Point Club in the Spartans 90-78 win over Cazenovia College at the Phoenix Cactus Jam on Tuesday, December 30, 2008. Senior guard Chad Trudo (Yorkville, IL/Yorkville HS) surpassed the 1,000 point plateau with a three-point basket off a Shane Roland assist with 5:35 left to play in the first half.

Trudo entered the contest three points shy of 1,000 and finished the evening with 21 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field, three-of-four from three-point range and four-of-four from the free throw line. Trudo reaches the 1,000 mark in just over three and one-half seasons in the AU men’s basketball program. He scored 217 points as a freshman, 270 points as a sophomore, 301 as a junior and following the last game of 2008; he has 230 points in his senior campaign. On the year, Trudo is averaging 19.2 points per game, while shooting 52.3 percent from the field (67-of-128) and 50.0 percent from three-point range (27-of-54).

Trudo and the Spartan men are in action next on Saturday, January 10, 2009, when they host the Crusaders of Maranatha Baptist Bible College in Thornton Gymnasium at 4:15 p.m. in a Northern Athletics Conference men’s basketball showdown. The Spartan men are currently 5-7 on the season and 3-1 in the NAC.
