Corricelli Sets Numerous Spartan Men’s Soccer Records

AURORA, Ill. November 13, 2008 - Aurora University men’s soccer player, senior forward Chase Corricelli (Peoria, IL/Notre Dame HS), concluded his four-year career as a Spartan as one of, if not, the most decorated player in AU men’s soccer history.

Corricelli leaves AU as the career goal scoring leader with 59 and the career point’s leader with 131. He finished with 13 career assists which is good for eighth all-time. In his four years, he accounted for four of the top 12 single season goal scoring marks including the second best single season mark this year (2008) with 21 goals.

He is a four-time All-Conference award winner (last three seasons in the Northern Athletics Conference and as a freshman by the former Northern Illinois-Iowa Conference). He also has been a three-time NSCAA All-Region selection (2008 is yet to be named).

"Chase has been a consummate ‘AU guy’ these past four years; he treats his teammates well, plays hard for the team and represents our program in a class way,” said AU Head Coach Pete Watkins. “A player who scores goals like he did, often while being double-teamed, shows what a dedicated and skillful player he was. He is a great player who has earned a lot of respect for our program, and we have a lot of respect for him.”

In 2008, Corricelli had 21 goals, eight assists, three game-winning goals and 50 points.

Corricelli and the Spartan men’s soccer team concluded the 2008 season with a 14-8-1 overall record and were 7-3-1 in Northern Athletics Conference action.
