Northern Athletics Conference Announces Postseason Volleyball Awards

AURORA, Ill. November 11, 2008 - The Aurora University Spartan women’s volleyball team had two players named to the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) All-Conference teams following the 2008 season.

AU junior middle hitter Jill Smart (Round Lake Beach, IL/Grayslake H.S.) was selected to the NAC All-Conference Second-Team and freshman libero Carly Blask (Baileyville, IL/Forreston H.S.) was selected to the NAC All-Rookie Team.

On the season, Smart averaged 3.07 kills and 0.97 blocks per game and was named to two all-tournament teams, AU Jim Coleman Classic and Benedictine University Eagle Invitational. Blask averaged 4.35 digs per game and was a key member of the Spartan defense.

The Spartans finished the 2008 season with a 7-24 overall record and were 6-6 in Northern Athletics Conference play.
