Spartan Named Northern Athletics Conference Football Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week

AURORA, Ill. November 11, 2008 - Aurora University Spartan football player, sophomore running back Jeff Fellers (Pontiac, IL/Pontiac H.S.) was named the Northern Athletics Conference Football Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending November 9, 2008.

The week in which the Spartans defeated Concordia University Chicago 63-6, marked AU’s second most wins in school history (tying the 1999 team with eight (8-2), the 1992 team was 9-1). The S[artans are currently 8-1 record and 6-0 in Northern Athletics Conference action.

Fellers led the AU offense with a career-high 152 yards rushing on 14 attempts and two touchdowns in just one half of action.

On the season, Fellers has 289 yards rushing on 50 carries and five touchdowns. He also has 12 receptions for 164 yards and one touchdown as well as five kick off returns for 105 yards.

Fellers and the Spartan football team are in action next on Saturday, November 15, 2008, when they host Lakeland College on AU senior day in the Northern Athletics Conference season finale. Game time is set for noon on Vago Field.

The AU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will be collecting donations, canned goods and non-perishable items for the 2008 NAC food drive.
