Spartan Women Top Muskies

AURORA, Ill. October 19, 2008 - The Aurora University women’s soccer team defeated the visiting Muskies of Lakeland College 3-0 on Sunday afternoon at Vago Field.

The Spartans scored their first goal of contest when freshman midfielder Haley Pschirrer scored her 12th goal of the year off an Amanda Hertz assist in the 33rd minute, putting the Spartans in the lead 1-0. The Spartans doubled their lead minutes later when junior forward Kim Knaub tallied her fifth goal of the season courtesy of a Katie Speranske assist in the closing minutes of the first half.

In the second half, senior forward Allison Bailey scored unassisted in the 61st minute, putting the Spartans up 3-0 and ending any hope of a Lakeland comeback.

The Spartan defense was solid all game, as they limited the Muskies to four shots total. Junior goalie Jenny Jarvis was solid between the posts, as she made two saves in her ninth shutout of the year.

With the win, the Spartans improve to 13-4 (9-0 NAC) while the Muskies fall to 8-8 (4-5 NAC).

The Spartans will be in action next on October 21, when they take on the Cougars of Concordia (Chi.) University on Senior Day. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m. on Vago Field.
