Spartan Named Northern Athletics Conference Football Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week

AURORA, Ill. September 16, 2008 - Aurora University Spartan football player, junior running back Ryne Reder (Aurora, IL/Marmion Academy) was named the Northern Athletics Conference Football Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending September 14, 2008.

The week in which the Spartans defeated MacMurray College 30-18, was also AU’s first time opening the season 2-0 since 1992 - the year in which AU became the first Chicagoland Division III football program to make the Division III playoffs.

Reder led the AU offense with 102 yards rushing on 23 attempts and one touchdown. He also added one reception for 12 yards. His third quarter two-yard touchdown run put the Spartans up 21-18 and a lead AU would not relinquish.

Reder and the Spartan football team are in action next on Saturday, September 20, 2008, when they host Illinois Wesleyan University in a non-conference match-up at the newly built Stadium. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. on AU Field.
