Spartan Baseball Student-Athlete Named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District

AURORA, Ill. May 12, 2008 - Aurora University Spartan baseball junior catcher Ray Kosmicki (Schaumburg, IL/Schaumburg H.S.) was named to the ESPN the Magazine District V Academic All-District Team.

To be considered for the honor, the nominated student-athletes are required to maintain a minimum 3.20 cumulative grade point average throughout their academic career at AU. Kosmicki was named to the Third-Team.

Kosmicki, a health science major at AU, was honored for his academic success as a student-athlete. On the field he hit a team-leading .432 with eight doubles, one triple, four home runs, 37 runs scored and 24 runs batted in. He was hit by 12 pitches, walked 15 times and had a team high .663 slugging percentage and .557 on-base percentage.

The AU baseball team finished the 2008 season with a 25-15 overall record and was 15-7 in the Northern Athletics Conference.

The ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District teams are selected by CoSIDA member Sports Information Directors within the district based on the student-athletes’ academic prowess while being a steady influence on their respective athletic field.
