Spartan to Play with Premier Development League
AURORA, Ill. April 30, 2008 - Aurora University Spartan men’s soccer junior forward Chase Corricelli (Peoria, IL/Notre Dame H.S.) has signed to play with the Kalamazoo Outrage of the United Soccer League, Premier Development League.
Corricelli has been an offensive force in his first three seasons at AU scoring 38 goals (third all-time) while tallying 11 game winning goals, five assists and 81 points. In the 2007 season; Corricelli led the Spartan offense with 15 goals, three assists and five game-winning goals.
"I spent a lot of time watching his game tapes and am confident Chase will have no problem adjusting to the PDL level of play. He's been a prolific goal scorer at the Division III level and I will be working hard with him to ensure this form follows him to the PDL," said Outrage PDL Head Coach Stu Riddle.
The Aurora University Spartan men’s soccer team finished the 2007 season with a 12-4-5 overall record and 8-0-2 in Northern Athletics Conference action.
"It is a great opportunity for Chase to play at the highest level available to a current college player. He will see what the next level is about in terms of conditioning, professionalism and quality of play. I think he will do well for Kalamazoo and return to AU to have a great senior year. The PDL environment will be key to helping him mature and develop significantly in all facets of his game," said AU Men’s Soccer Head Coach Pete Watkins.
Corricelli was named to National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-Central Region team as a Third-Team member and was a First-Team Northern Athletics Conference All-Conference selection.
