Spartan Named NAC Softball Student-Athlete of the Week
AURORA, Ill. April 29, 2008 - Aurora University womens softball sophomore pitcher Anna Snyder (Grayslake, IL/Grayslake H.S.) was named Northern Athletics Conference Softball Student-Athlete of the Week for the second time this season.
Snyder led the Spartans to four of the six wins on AU's 6-0 week and clinching the 2008 Northern Athletics Conference Championship. Snyder was dominant once again, striking out 46 hitters in 21-1/3 innings pitched while only allowing seven hits and walking one batter. Her only run allowed came in AU's 2-1 win at Marian College where she struck out 15 and allowed three hits. In AU's doubleheader sweep of Lakeland College; Snyder earned wins in both games, starting game one (11-0 win), pitching six innings, striking out 15 and allowing three hits. In game two, she threw 4-1/3 innings in relief, allowing one hit and striking out six. In her other start on the week, AU's 8-0 win over Dominican University, Snyder pitched four innings of perfect ball, striking out 10.
On the season, Snyder is 17-3 with four saves, a 1.66 earned run average and 165 strikeouts in 108-2/3 innings pitched.
Next action for the Spartan softball team comes on Wednesday, April 30, 2008, when they host Elmhurst College in a non-conference doubleheader. In between games the 2008 senior class will be honored. Game time is set for 4:30 p.m. at the Stuart Sports Complex in Aurora, IL.
