Spartan Named Northern Athletics Conference Baseball Hitter of the Week

AURORA, Ill. April 16, 2008 - Aurora University Spartan baseball sophomore designated hitter Matt Anklam (Carol Stream, IL/Glenbard North H.S.) was named the NAC Hitter of the Week.

Anklam helped the Spartans to a doubleheader sweep of Wisconsin Lutheran College (13-2 and 12-4) in AU's only games on the week due to the inclement weather. Anklam had four of his five hits go for extra bases, which included a home run and three doubles to drive in a team high six runs. The sophomore had a 1.222 slugging percentage to go along with his .556 batting average (5-for-9).

On the season, Anklam is hitting .344 with two home runs, eight doubles, nine runs scored and 16 runs batted in.

Next action for the Spartan baseball team comes on Wednesday, April 16, 2008, when they travel to Elmhurst College for a non-conference contest. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m. in Elmhurst, IL.
