Spartan Named NAC Softball Student-Athlete of the Week

AURORA, Ill. April 8, 2008 - Aurora University women’s softball freshman outfielder/pitcher Gabby Smith (Joliet, IL/Joliet Catholic Academy), was named Northern Athletics Conference Softball Student-Athlete of the Week.

Smith had a stellar week in her first collegiate season, including her first and second career home runs at Rockford College on Wednesday. In AU's 8-0 and 5-2 wins over Edgewood College, Smith was three-for-five with a double, three runs scored and an RBI. The rookie hit .438 for the week, including .550 on-base percentage.

Next action for the Spartan softball team comes on Wednesday, April 8, 2008, when they host Concordia University Chicago for a Northern Athletics Conference doubleheader. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m. at the Stuart Sports Complex in Aurora, IL.
