USTFCCCA Announces Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Academic Honors

AURORA, Ill. February 27, 2008 - The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced its 2008 academic honors recipients and the Aurora University men’s and women’s cross country teams both were among the NCAA Division III cross country institutions whose team grade point averages finished above a 3.000 cumulative.

The Spartan men finished with a 3.28 while their female counterparts finished with a 3.18 cumulative grade point average.

An unbelievable total of 141 Division III women’s and 99 men’s programs received the USTFCCCA’s All-Academic Team honors this year compared to 112 women’s schools from last season. Just over a third of all Division III institutions (390) who sponsor women’s cross country received the honor. In addition, 30 of the 32 teams in the women’s championship field and 23 of the 32 men’s championship field at this year’s NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships were named USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams.

For a team to be considered for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award, they must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional Meet. The team must also have a minimum 3.10 team cumulative grade point average.
