Spartan Named Conference Student-Athlete of the Week

AURORA, Ill. February 26, 2008 - Aurora University men’s track and field thrower, sophomore Adrian Kibiersza (Des Plaines, IL/Maine West H.S.), was named Northern Athletics Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending February 24, 2008.

Competing in the indoor portion of the Spartan schedule, Kibiersza broke the AU school record in the shot put, finishing second at the University of Chicago Invitational with a throw of 15.51 meters. The throw was just 0.03 meters shy of the NCAA provisional mark. At the meet in which AU finished third with 44 points, Kibiersza also finished eighth in the weight throw with a throw of 12.63 meters.

Next action for the Spartan men's track and field team comes on Friday, February 29, 2008, when they travel to the Northern Athletics Conference Indoor Championships. Meet time is set for 3:00 p.m. in Kenosha, WI, at Carthage College.
