Spartan Named Conference Student-Athlete of the Week

AURORA, Ill. February 12, 2008 - Aurora University men’s track and field thrower, junior Tom Sroka (Bridgeview, IL/Argo H.S.), was named Northern Athletics Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending February 10, 2008.

Competing in the indoor portion of the Spartans schedule, Sroka broke his own school record in the weight throw, besting the previous record by five inches, with a throw of 50'7.25" at the Dick Pond Invitational hosted by Lewis University. He finished third in the weight throw event and also finished 10th in the shot put with a throw of 41’11.25”.

Next action for the Spartan men's track and field team comes on Saturday, February 16, 2008, when they travel to the Chicagoland Indoor Championships. Meet time is set for 11:00 a.m. in Chicago, IL.
