Northern Athletics Conference Announces Postseason Men’s Cross Country Awards

AURORA, Ill. November 1, 2007 - The Aurora University men’s cross country team had significant representation on the 2007 Northern Athletics Conference All-Conference team following their third-place finish in the 2007 NAC Men’s Cross Country Championships.

The Spartan men’s cross country team was led by Northern Athletics Conference Men’s Cross Country All-Conference selections sophomore Kevin Peters (North Aurora, IL/West Aurora H.S.) and sophomore Jake Schlueter (Westmont, IL/Westmont H.S.). Peters finished 10th in the NAC meet with a time of 28:14.2, while Maki finished 11th with a time of 28:26.1.

The Spartans had three members selected as NAC Honorable Mention All-Conference. Senior David Mathew (Aurora, IL/Aurora Central Catholic), senior Derek Babson (Morris, IL/Morris H.S.) and senior Aaron Smith (Sugar Grove, IL/Kaneland H.S.) were selected as NAC Honorable Mention All-Conference. Babson finished 20th in the conference meet with a time of 28:46.5, Mathew finished 21st with a time of 28:50.6 and Smith finished 27th with a time of 29:20.5.

Next action for the Spartan men's cross country team comes on Saturday, November 10, 2007 when they travel to the 2007 NCAA Division III Regional Championships hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Meet time is set for noon in Winneconne, WI at Lake Breeze Golf Course.
