Spartans defeat Sabres in NAC Men's Soccer Action

AURORA, Ill. October 13, 2007 - The Aurora University Spartan men's soccer team defeated the Sabres of Marian College 2-0 in Northern Athletics Conference action on a cool Saturday afternoon on AU Field.

Aurora got off to an early 1-0 lead in the 18th minute, when senior forward Danny May tallied his sixth goal of the season, he was unassisted.

Seven minutes later, senior forward Scott Anderson scored his first goal of the season off an assist from fellow senior Joey Catrino.

Spartan freshman goalkeeper Kevin Soderstrom made the lead hold up as he had two saves to pick up his third shutout of the season.

Marian sophomore goalkeeper Ben Kastein had six saves in the losing effort.

Aurora out shot Marian 19 to 3 in the game, eight to two in shots on goal.

With the win Aurora improves to 8-3-3; 5-0-1 NAC, while Marian falls to 0-11-1; 0-6 NAC.
