NAC Announces Women’s Golf Post Season Awards
AURORA, Ill. October 9, 2007 - The Northern Athletics Conference announced its 2007 women’s golf All-Conference Team and postseason awards. The Aurora University Spartan women’s golf team, winners of the NAC Women’s Golf Championship for the second consecutive season, placed four players on the All-Conference team with Spartan Head Coach Chad Johansen being named NAC Women’s Soccer Coach of the Year. The award marked Johansen’s second consecutive time being named the conference Coach of the Year.
The Spartan Women’s Golf program captured the Northern Athletics Conference championship with a two-day score of 788 (394/394). On the season, the Spartans won two meets (AU Spartan Classic and the NAC Championships) and finished second in two (Benedictine University Invitational and Edgewood College Invitational).
Spartan freshman Kristen Richardson (Shabbona, IL/Indian Creek HS) was the individual medalist at three of the six tournaments: Edgewood College, where she shot a two-day score of 173 (87/86); the AU Spartan Invitational, where she shot a two-day score of 179 (91/88); and the NAC Championships were she shot a two-day score of 173 (84/89). For her efforts, she was named NAC Player of the Year and NAC Rookie of the Year as well as NAC All-Conference.
Joining Richardson on the NAC All-Conference team were Senior Brittany Butcher (St. Charles, IL/St. Charles East HS) (second place at the AU Invitational and NAC Championships), sophomore Lindsey Pilmer (Aurora, IL/West Aurora HS) (seventh at the AU Invitational and NAC Championships) and senior Allison Sperling (Aurora, IL/West Aurora HS) (ninth at the AU Invitational and 13th at the NAC Championships).
