Spartan Selected as Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week

AURORA, Ill. October 4, 2007 - Aurora University football sophomore linebacker Dave Gesiakowski (Carol Stream, IL/Glenbard North HS) was named Illini-Badger Football Conference (IBFC) Co-Defensive Player of the Week for his outstanding effort in the Spartans’ 16-0 defeat of Greenville College.

On the day, Gesiakowski accounted for seven tackles (three solo and four assisted) and a forced fumble and fumble recovery. He was instrumental in helping the Spartan defense limit Greenville to 153 total yards and three turnovers in the game.

Through four games this season, Gesiakowski has 15 tackles (seven solo and eight assisted), two and one-half quarterback sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

The Spartans, led by Gesiakiowski’s defensive prowess, are in action next on Saturday, October 6, 2007, when they travel to the Falcons of Concordia University, WI in an Illini-Badger Football Conference match-up. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. in Mequon, WI.
