Spartan Selected as Conference Defensive Player of the Week

AURORA, Ill. September 6, 2007 - Aurora University football sophomore linebacker Mike Budzinski (Minooka, IL/Minooka HS) was named Illini-Badger Football Conference (IBFC) Defensive Player of the Week for his outstanding effort in the Spartans’ 23-13 defeat at Wisconsin Lutheran College.

On the day, Budzinski accounted for a game high 15 tackles (seven solo and eight assisted), had one interception (first of his collegiate career) as well as a pass break-up.

The 2006 IBFC Second-Team All-Conference selection had 63 tackles (35 solo and 28 assisted), three quarterback sacks and a team leading four forced fumbles.

The Spartans, led by Budzinski’s defensive prowess, are in action next on Saturday, September 8, 2007, when they host the Kohawks of Coe College in a non-conference match-up. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. on AU Field.
