Spartans Favorites to Capture NAC Women’s Golf Championship

AURORA, Ill. August 30, 2007 - The Aurora University Spartans women’s golf team has been picked to win the 2007 Northern Athletics Conference Women's Golf Championship according to the coaches' preseason poll.

The Spartans look to defend their 2006 title this season, and are led by seniors Allison Sperling (Aurora, IL/West Aurora) and Brittany Butcher (St. Charles, IL/St. Charles East). Both golfers finished in the top ten at last year's Northern Athletics Conference Championship.

The 2007 Northern Athletics Conference Women's Golf Championship will take place at Mequon Country Club in Mequon, Wis. on October 5 and 6. The 2007-2008 season will then conclude at the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship, May 13-16 at Centennial Oaks Golf Club in Waverly, Iowa.

The Spartan women’s golf team is in action on Wednesday, September 5, 2007, when they travel to Wisconsin Lutheran College in AU’s season opener. Meet time is set for 10:00 a.m. in Milwaukee, WI.
