Spartan Named NAC Softball Student-Athlete of the Week

AURORA, Ill. April 26, 2007 - Aurora University women’s softball sophomore pitcher Nicole Capone (Brookfield, IL/Lyons Township H.S.), was named Northern Athletics Conference Softball Student-Athlete of the Week.

Capone led AU on the week in which the Spartans went 8-0 overall and 6-0 in the NAC. Capone was 3-0 with a 0.53 earned run average, two complete games and one shutout. In 17 innings pitched, she allowed 11 hits (.183 opponents batting average), struck out 13, allowed two runs (one earned) and walked one.

On the season, Capone is 13-3 with a 2.17 earned run average. In 91-1/3 innings pitched, she has 59 strikeouts and opponents are hitting only .210 against her.

Next action for the Spartan softball team comes on Friday, April 27, 2007, when they travel to the University of Chicago. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m. in Chicago, IL.
