AURORA, Ill. April 23, 2007 - Aurora University men’s track and field thrower, freshman Adrian Kibiersza (DesPlaines, IL/Maine West H.S.) became the first Aurora University men’s track and field athlete in the four-year existence of the program to reach an NCAA Division III provisional qualifying mark.

Kibiersza’s qualifying mark came at the Benedictine University Invitational on Saturday, April 21. Kibiersza won the discus with a throw of 48.70m (159'09"). He surpassed the NCAA DIII provisional qualifying mark in the discus (47.50) with his 48.70m throw. Currently the mark ranks him eighth in NCAA Division III in the discus.

"We are very excited for Adrian and the whole team on this accomplishment. This demonstrates that our program can compete at the national level and gives hope for many of Adrian's teammates who aspire for similar accomplishments,” AU Track and Field Head Coach James Kluckhohn said.

Next action for the Spartan men's track and field team comes on Wednesday, April 25, 2007, when they travel to the North Central College “Old Fashion Meet.” Meet time is set for 4:00 p.m. in Naperville, IL.
