Spartan Women Relentless in Knocking off Regents

AURORA, Ill. January 20, 2007 - The Aurora University Women’s Basketball team defeated the visiting Rockford College Regents 71-38 in Thornton Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.

Aurora jumped out to a quick lead that would never be relinquish and used their stifling defense to find themselves up 38-8 at the break.

The Spartans put their game on cruise control in the second half for a Northern Athletics Conference victory.

Leading the way for the Spartans were guards Naomi Guise (15 points and six rebounds) and Beth Plucinski (12 points and nine assists).

Tina Biondo led the Regents with 12 points.

AU held Rockford to 26.4% (14-53) shooting for the game and allowed just three field goals in the first half. The Regents were 3-of-23 (13.0%) from the field in the opening session. The Spartans would go on to shoot 43.9% (29-of-66) for the game.

The Spartans improved their record to 10-5 overall and 7-2 in the NAC, while Rockford falls to 4-12 overall and 2-8 in the NAC.
