Spartan Women Pick Up First Victory in 2007

AURORA, Ill. January 9, 2007 - The Aurora University women’s basketball team snapped a two game slide on Tuesday night by picking up an important NAC home victory, defeating the visiting Dominican University Stars 71-50.

Aurora was led by guard Naomi Guise, who had 26 points on 12-22 shooting. Guise also added six rebounds and five steals to round out her stellar night. Aurora played a fast paced game which allowed for the Spartans to pick up a lot of transition points against the Dominican defense.

On the night, Aurora shot .400 (32-80) from the field, but spread the ball around enough to get contributions from up and down their roster. Meagan Re chipped in 13 points while center Laura Wiesner added 12 points.

AU led 41-30 at halftime and had a 51 to 47 rebounding favor.

Dominican was led by Jessica Salinas' 18 points and 17 rebounds and Lisa Julkowski added 13 points.

AU is now 7-5 overall and 4-2 in the NAC while Dominican is 2-9 overall and 1-5 in the NAC.
