Spartan Named NAC Men’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week

AURORA, Ill. January 2, 2007 - The Aurora University men’s basketball team received top conference honors the last week of 2006 as junior forward Doug Lambert (Warrenville, IL/Wheaton-Warrenville South H.S.) was named Northern Athletics Conference men’s basketball Student-Athlete of the Week.

Lambert led the Spartans to a 2-0 week in non-conference action, which included a 99-71 defeat over Loras College and a 90-75 win over Millikin University. With the victories, AU is 8-1 overall and 3-1 in the NAC heading into the new year.

In the Spartans' win over Loras, Lambert scored a game-high 25 points on 9-of-14 shooting from the field, including 6-of-10 from beyond the arc (6-of-7 in the second half). He added five rebounds in the night's effort. In the Millikin win, Lambert had 11 points on four-of-eight shooting from the field and also grabbed seven rebounds.

On the week, Lambert averaged 18 points and six rebounds, while shooting 59.1% (13-22) from the field and 57.1% (8-14) from beyond the arc.

Lambert and the Spartan men are in action next on Wednesday, January 3, 2007, when they host Beloit College in non-conference action. Game time is at 7:00 p.m. in Thornton Gymnasium.
