Aurora Women Fall To Chicago

AURORA, Ill. November 30, 2006 - The Aurora University women’s basketball team lost a heart breaker at home to the No. 23 ranked Maroons of the University of Chicago on Wednesday night in front of the Thornton Gymnasium crowd. The non-conference loss drops Aurora to 2-2 on the young season, while it pushes Chicago to 5-0.

The Spartans went up early in the first half but could not pull away as Chicago kept pace and managed to tie the game heading into halftime. With the score locked at 40 coming out of the intermission, Chicago came out firing. They were led by Nofi Mojidi, who had 21 points on 8-15 shooting. Aurora did their best to keep up, but Chicago’s fire power was too much as they showed why they are currently sitting on a 5-0 record. Lost were the efforts of Spartans Naomi Guise (double double of 27 points and 10 rebounds) and Meagan Re (14 points).

Aurora returns to action on Saturday, December 2nd as they travel to Lakeland College for the Northern Athletics Conference opener.
