Spartan Named First NAC Women’s Basketball Student-Athete of the Week

AURORA, Ill. November 22, 2006 - Aurora University Spartan women’s basketball senior guard Naomi Guise (Springfield, IL/Southeast HS) was named the first Northern Athletics Conference Women’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending November 19, 2006.

Guise led the Spartans to a 1-1 opening of the season at the Wisconsin Lutheran Warrior Classic. In AU’s win over Greenville College, Guise had a game and career high 44 points, which also tied an AU single game record. She tied Jennifer Harms, who set the record in February of 1998 against Rockford College. Guise shot 17-of-31 from the field, 6-of-12 from three-point range and grabbed seven rebounds. On the week, Guise went on to average 34 points and 7.5 rebounds.

Guise and the Spartan women’s basketball team are in action next on Wednesday, November 22, 2006 when they host the Vikings of Augustana in the Spartans’ home opener. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. in Thornton Gymnasium.
