Spartan Named Northern Athletics Conference Men’s Soccer Student-Athlete of the Week

AURORA, Ill. November 1, 2006 - Aurora University men’s soccer goalkeeper, sophomore Jon Unruh (St. Joseph, MO/St. Joseph Central H.S.) was named Northern Athletics Conference Men’s Soccer Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 29, 2006.

Unruh was stellar in goal for the Spartans (12-4-4, 8-1 NAC) and helped lead AU to clinch the second place position in the NAC and an opening round bye in the conference tournament. In two games, Unruh did not allow a goal in 171:44 minutes. In that time, he had six saves and had a 2-0 record. Unruh had five saves in AU's 4-0 win over Maranatha.

On the season, Unruh has a 2-1-1 record with two shutouts, 26 saves and a 1.44 goals against average.

Unruh and the Spartan men’s soccer will now await word from the NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer selection committee on a possible bid to the 2006 NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer Championships. Announcement will be made on Monday, November 6, 2006.
