Spartan Named NAC Women’s Soccer Student-Athlete of the Week

AURORA, Ill. October 25, 2006 - Aurora University women’s soccer player, senior midfielder Lauren Thomas (Milwaukee, WI/Thomas More H.S.), was named Northern Athletics Conference Women’s Soccer Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 22, 2006.

On the week in which Thomas helped AU (14-3-2, 10-0 NAC) continue their hot streak, winner's of six straight, she tallied four goals and two assists for ten points. She had game winning goals in AU's 4-2 come from behind victory over Principia College and in the Spartans 7-0 victory over NAC foe Wisconsin Lutheran.

On the season, Thomas is tied for second on the team with nine goals and is third with five assists. Her 23 points is good for second most and she leads the Spartans with three game-winning goals. The nine goals for Thomas are part of the Spartans recording breaking 85 goals which out does the previous record set in 2000 of 83 goals.

Thomas and the Spartan women’s soccer team are in action next on Tuesday, October 31, 2006, when they host the semi-final round of the Northern Athletics Conference tournament. Game time is set for 1:30 p.m. on AU Field with the winner advancing to the NAC tournament final.
