Spartan Named NAC Volleyball Student-Athlete of the Week

AURORA, Ill. October 25, 2006 - Aurora University volleyball player, senior outside hitter Sarah Campbell (Lake Villa, IL/Grayslake H.S.) was named Northern Athletics Conference Volleyball Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 22, 2006.

For the week, Campbell led the Spartans to a 3-0 record and the NAC regular season championship, the first conference championship for the Spartan volleyball team since 1996 (Northern Illinois-Iowa Conference).

In AU's 3-2 victory over Rockford, Campbell willed the Spartans (17-11, 11-0 NAC) to victory with an outstanding performance of 29 kills, 22 digs and one serving ace. On the week, she averaged 5.00 kills per game/18.33 per match (55 total) for a .349 kill percentage and 3.82 digs per game/14 per match (42 total). Campbell also had four blocks and three serving aces on the week.

On the season, in which AU is now 17-11, Campbell is averaging 3.68 kills and 5.21 digs per game and has 24 serving aces. She is hitting at a .224 percentage on the season as well.

Next action for Campbell and the Spartan volleyball team comes on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 27 and 28, 2006, when they travel to the Benedictine University Tournament. Game times are set for 3:00 p.m. (North Park University) and 5:00 p.m. (St. Norbert College) on Friday, and 10:00 a.m. (Dominican University) and 2:00 p.m. (North Central College) on Saturday in Lisle, IL.
