Spartans Send Seniors Out on High Note
AURORA, Ill. October 24, 2006 - The Aurora University women’s volleyball team continued its winning ways
on Tuesday night as it defeated visiting Lake Forest College in consecutive
games, the non-conference win boosts Aurora’s record to 17-11 overall.
The home crowd was a rowdy one as AU fans came out to support their team on Senior Night, which also marked the last regular season home game for
retiring coach Jerry Angle and the Spartans did not disappoint.
Aurora took the first game 30-20 behind a fast start that put them up
early and the Spartans would never look back. Game two was another game where Aurora jumped out to a lead and held on, 30-27. The third game proved to be a little tougher as Aurora, once again, went up early but almost lost the lead as Lake Forest made a comeback at about the halfway point.
After using a timeout to regroup, Aurora bounced back and cruised to the 30-21 win. The Spartan’s Senior Night was highlighted by a couple of seniors; Sarah Campbell helped lead the way with 13 kills and 15 digs, while fellow senior Lindsey Gruber finished her night with 14 kills and 22 digs.
AU returns to action this weekend as they travel to Lisle to participate in the Benedictine University Tournament.
