Spartans Drop NAC Home Contest
AURORA, Ill. October 10, 2006 - The Aurora University men’s soccer team was defeated 4-1 against the Dominican University Stars. The Stars scored twice in the first half and were able to put the game out of reach with another pair of goals in the second half.
The Stars scored first on a goal by Matt Kochanowski in the 10th minute of play on an assist from Elvin Perez. The Spartans looked to be on their heels but were able to get one past the Stars goaltender Piotr Sliwa in the 24th minute on a shot by Andrew Taylor. Taylor made a spectacular corner kick that curved into the net straight from his foot. The Spartans looked to carry the tie into the half but the Star’s Arnes Rodriguez was able to score in the 42nd minute off an assist from Eric Florance. The score going into the half was 2-1 in favor of Dominican.
The second half was controlled by Dominican as the Star’s were able to score twice in the half and put the game out of reach for the Spartans. Florance tallied a goal in the 58th minute and Matt Kochanowski was able to add his second goal of the day during the 84th minute.
Dominican out shot Aurora 16-7 and move on to a 13-1 overall record as well as a 7-0 record in the NAC. The Spartans are now 8-2-3 overall and 4-1 in conference play.
