Spartans Defeat Lakeland for Second Time in Five Days

AURORA, Ill. October 4, 2006 - The Aurora University women's volleyball team grabbed some momentum after an early first game loss and managed to keep it going en route to a three games to one victory over Northern Athletics Conference foe Lakeland College in AU's Thornton Gymnasium.

The Spartans fell early in the night, 30-27, but managed to quickly rebound and win the next three games (30-19, 30-26, 30-17). The win marks the second time in five days that AU has defeated Lakeland. The Spartans bested Lakeland on Saturday in non-conference, tournament play at UW-Platteville (30-26, 30-21, 30-21).

AU was led by senior Sarah Campbell, who had 17 kills and 15 digs. Lindsey Gruber also put forth a noteworthy effort by recording 10 kills and 20 digs.

AU returns to action on Friday as they play host to NAC rival Concordia (WI).
