Spartan Named Northern Athletics Conference Men’s Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Week

AURORA, Ill. September 19, 2006 - Aurora University men’s cross country runner, junior Matt Baker (Dixon, IL/Dixon H.S.) was named Northern Athletics Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending September 17, 2006. The award is Baker’s second of the season.

Baker recorded a second place finish and was the top Division III runner at the Aurora University Spartan Classic last Friday. Baker finished with a time of 27:15 and led the Spartans to a third-place finish at the 8K run. The rookie set an Aurora University school record in the 6K event and was the top finisher among Northern Athletics Conference schools.

The next action for Baker and the men’s cross country team comes on Friday, September 22, 2006, when they travel to the Brissman Lundeen Invitational at Augustana College. Meet time is set for 6:00 p.m. in Rock Island, IL.
