International Student Admission Requirements and Application Forms

Application Deadlines:

March 1 - Fall Semester (August - December)
July 1 - Spring Semester (January - May)

The following application materials and documentation must be submitted to the Office of Admission before a decision on acceptance will be made.

Application Process:

  1. Complete and submit the International Student Application and Application Fee

    • Complete and sign the international student application with $25 non-refundable application fee. The fee must be sent in the form of a certified check or money order made payable to "Aurora University" in U.S. dollars.

  2. Submit admission materials required to complete your application:
    • Official Academic Transcripts from schools attended in the United States
      Official transcripts from all secondary and/or post-secondary schools attended must be sent directly to the Office of Admission. Please Note: Graduate applicants do not need to submit secondary/high school transcripts.

    • Official Transcripts and Evaluations from Schools attended outside the United States
      All academic transcripts issued from educational institutions outside the United States must be evaluated by Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc. (ECE). Evaluations must be sent directly to the Office of Admission.

    • Official TOEFL scores or official results from the ELS exam (level 109)
      All applicants educated outside of the United States from non-native speaking countries must submit proof of English competency. Official TOEFL scores (minimum 550 on paper version and 213-220 on computer-based test) or official results (level 109) on the ELS must be sent directly to the Office of Admission.

    • Standardized Test Results (ACT or SAT)
      International students applying for undergraduate admission from English-speaking countries must submit an official score report from the American College Test (ACT) (minimum 19) or the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) (minimum 910).

    • References
      Three letters of academic or professional recommendation (Acrobat .pdf file) are required for international student applicants.

    • Statement of Purpose
      Required for Master of Social Work Applicants Only
  1. Submit additional international student documentation as requested.

    • Statement of Financial Resources
      International students applying for an I-20 Student Visa must submit the Statement of Financial Resources (Acrobat .pdf file) form required by U.S. federal law. This form must be signed and notarized and be accompanied by an original letter from a bank official certifying the availability of funds for study at Aurora University. Note: Students requiring an I-20 will not be eligible for need-based financial aid.

    • Evidence of Immigration Status
      For international applicants currently in the United States or holding a valid U.S. Visa, please submit a copy of the current visa page and I-94 card in your passport, or a copy of your Alien Registration card (front and back). International students transferring from an academic institution in the United States are also required to complete the Visa Clearance Form (Acrobat .pdf file).

    • Medical Forms and Health Insurance (required for admitted applicants prior to enrollment)
      All international students are required to submit a medical form (required by Illinois state law), with complete immunization records, to the Wellness Center prior to registering for classes. International students who are admitted to Aurora University may purchase health insurance for an additional cost. Information regarding purchasing insurance is available from Student Life.
