Zack Student ProfileMajor: Religion and History
Hometown: Frankfort, IL

What attracted you to AU? AU is close to home, so if family emergencies come up, I can be there. The school is small, so I won't get lost in the crowd. And AU has one of the better Division III soccer programs in the country.

How did you choose your majors? I have always loved history, which was my first major, but when my honors class was taught by Professor Martin Forward, it made me realize I am also interested in religion and have plenty to say on the topic. Both of my majors help me with interpretation skills, and they both let me expand my free-thinking mind.

What else are you involved with on campus? I play for the men's soccer team, and I am interning at the Wackerlin Center for Faith and Action.

Who or what has influenced you thus far at AU? Definitely Professor Forward and Eric Hunt, who run the Wackerlin Center. People often think a religious professor or figure is going to try and convert you. But these are two of the funniest, smartest and down-to-earth guys I have ever met, and they really opened my eyes to a whole new side of religion.

What is your favorite part about AU? The campus has a very comfortable and relaxed feel to it. And I love the food.

What do you hope to do after graduation? I plan on going to law school. Hopefully my double major of history and religion will prepare me to interpret a new set of rules — laws.
