Aurora University to Host Mexican Dancers for Hispanic Heritage Month

AURORA, Ill. — In observance of Hispanic Heritage Month, Aurora University will host "Danzas Ceremonial de Mexico" at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 2.

Nahui Olin, a group of three Mexican-American folk dancers, will perform in Crimi Auditorium in the Institute for Collaboration at 407 S. Calumet Ave. in Aurora.

The public is invited. Admission is free. The performance is sponsored by AU's Latin American Student Association.

Nahui Olin will present pre-Hispanic traditions of central Mexico with authentic attire and musical instruments.

The dancers' movements represent and honor elements in nature, totem animals, deities and sacred actions.
