AURORA, Ill. — Aurora University will host an information session on the Peace Corps at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 23.

The public is invited. Admission is free.

Jason Lemberg, a 2005 AU graduate and Chicago-based Peace Corps recruiter, will discuss the service program in the University Banquet Hall in Alumni Hall, 1410 Marseillaise Place. Refreshments will be served.

A Des Plaines native, Lemberg, 26, served with the Peace Corps from 2006 to 2008. He taught English in Kyrgyzstan, a central-Asian country that was part of the former Soviet Union. The nation of 5 million people borders China, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.

"I was the first volunteer in my site, which provided many exciting challenges," Lemberg said.

In addition to classroom duties, he helped organize several village projects, including an English resource center and farming cooperative.

The former Spartan soccer player worked as a recruiter for AU's Center for Adult Studies before joining the Peace Corps.

Accompanying Lemberg will be Julia Capizzi, a Peace Corps health-education volunteer in El Salvador from 2002 to 2004.
