Batavia resident, AU Museum Director Discusses Chief Blackhawk

AURORA, Ill. – Meg Bero, executive director of Aurora University’s Schingoethe Center for Native American Cultures, spoke at McHenry County College in Crystal Lake on June 16.
Bero, a Batavia resident, discussed "Blackhawk and the Native Peoples of Illinois" at a professional development program for MCC educators.
Bero illustrated her second annual presentation to MCC teachers with Native American artifacts from the AU museum. They included a Native American chief’s headdress, a beaver felt top hat, and a peace medal given to Native Americans by government officials at treaty signings.
