WILLIAMS BAY, Wis. — The second annual celebration recognizing the 2007-2008 graduates of George Williams College of Aurora University was held on Saturday, April 26. 3:00 in Lewis Hall on the campus located in Williams Bay, WI. More than 300 people attended as candidates for graduation were honored. Proceedings began with a musical prelude, followed by an academic processional with faculty and students. William Duncan, vice president and chief academic officer, welcomed guests and students.
“It was an honor to recognize these wonderful students, both undergraduate and graduate, who will soon be receiving their respective degrees in business, communication, nursing, social work, recreation administration and teaching,” said Duncan. “We know these students are poised for success in their chosen careers.”
Aurora University President Rebecca L. Sherrick formally greeted guests and students, followed by remarks from students Tara Mele from Williams Bay, WI who will receive her Bachelor of Science in Recreation Administration; Haley Davis from Delavan, WI who will receive her Master of Science in Recreation Administration; Jadwega Handorf from Woodstock, IL who will receive her Master of Arts in Teaching with Certification; and Nathan Jokiel from Wonder Lake, IL who will receive his Master of Social Work.
To further commemorate this special occasion, students received their George Williams College pins. After the pinning ceremony, Christine Flasch, Aurora University Chorale Director and Executive Director of Music by the Lake, led the singing of the George Williams College alma mater. Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Michael Moser gave the closing benediction.
A reception for graduates and guests followed the program in the adjoining hall. Formal graduation ceremonies will be held on the Aurora University campus on Sunday, May 4.
